First the gripe. I know it sounds very Big Brother and all that (and yes it's scary that we are getting ever closer to that scenario), but I really do think that a good idea would be to microchip kids as they do pets. Generally speaking, it would do a lot for missing children etc...but it's more personal. In the military, dependant children get ID cards at 10. #1 Son is 14 and has just lost his third one (plus he didn't even carry it for the first couple of years). It is just so much hassle to get a new one. He has gone to the BX at lunchtime today to see if it's been turned in as that's where he last had it. And in a month's time #2 Son will be getting his.

Oh yes, scanning kids as they come through the gate would be so much easier.

Now for the *squee*

Walked into the BX this morning, took a brief look at the DVD stand as you walk in and what do I see...Seasons 1 and 2 of Highlander! I nearly *squee*d out loud right there. Didn't get Season 2...still cheaper through Deep Discount, but I got such a thrill just seeing them there.

And I must mention JT. JT is one of the cashiers at the BX. If he's working, I always go to his till. He is unlike any AAFES employee I've encountered. He is just so nice and friendly all the time...and moreso, he manages to deliver the pat lines "How are you today?" and "Have a nice day" completely and utterly sincerely. Something I have never experienced before. Must fill out a Comment Card on him.

1. What scene always makes you cry?

I can't help it, I always blub at Boromir's death. The tears well up when the first arrow hits and they don't stop until he's in the boat. It's one of the most powerful death scenes there is. And it's not because it's Sean Bean, I'm well used to him dying off in films...but Boromir is certainly his best.

2. What scene always makes you laugh?

There's quite a few. One that sticks in my mind because I've seen it a few times recently is in "Snatch" when Brick Top says "In the words of the Virgin Mary, come again?" Gets me everytime. There's a few others in that film as well.

3. What scene always makes you cringe?

In Sharpe's Waterloo, when Wellington yells as Sharpe "Go on Sharpe, you've broken the Old Guard, they won't stand." It just seems so fakey and unnecessary, and very un-Iron Duke like. There's a couple more in that episode, like when Harris and Harper die...but the Wellington one is worse.

4. What scene always confuses you?

I'm not sure I can pick any specific scene, but "Shooters" is very confusing, and I'm not sure it's meant to be. The writers, I think, wanted to do something clever like "Lock, Stock" or "Snatch", but fell down flat. If you try and look at it too closely, you end up going, "Huh?"...but if you just enjoy the mindless violence and Gerard Butler in a towel...it's not bad *g*

5. What scene always makes you want to kill the writers?

Easy. In the Highlander episode Revelations 6:8...when MacLeod beheads Kronos. Yep, they were bastards for doing that *g*.
