Gripe and *squee*
Feb. 6th, 2004 01:49 pmFirst the gripe. I know it sounds very Big Brother and all that (and yes it's scary that we are getting ever closer to that scenario), but I really do think that a good idea would be to microchip kids as they do pets. Generally speaking, it would do a lot for missing children etc...but it's more personal. In the military, dependant children get ID cards at 10. #1 Son is 14 and has just lost his third one (plus he didn't even carry it for the first couple of years). It is just so much hassle to get a new one. He has gone to the BX at lunchtime today to see if it's been turned in as that's where he last had it. And in a month's time #2 Son will be getting his.
Oh yes, scanning kids as they come through the gate would be so much easier.
Now for the *squee*
Walked into the BX this morning, took a brief look at the DVD stand as you walk in and what do I see...Seasons 1 and 2 of Highlander! I nearly *squee*d out loud right there. Didn't get Season 2...still cheaper through Deep Discount, but I got such a thrill just seeing them there.
And I must mention JT. JT is one of the cashiers at the BX. If he's working, I always go to his till. He is unlike any AAFES employee I've encountered. He is just so nice and friendly all the time...and moreso, he manages to deliver the pat lines "How are you today?" and "Have a nice day" completely and utterly sincerely. Something I have never experienced before. Must fill out a Comment Card on him.
