A little late in keeping up with my attempt to post weekly, but I hope it's going to be worth it. Monday, I just got back from my trip to England and a holiday with my bestie, [livejournal.com profile] gmnoonie. I did slip in a quick post of our very fun Just Jhoom class at CenterParcs, and we also enjoyed two very wonderful sessions at the sauna on site. Unfortunately, we were in the land of Internetless...and even 3G-less...which was frustrating. We did escape CenterParcs and took a day trip into Bath, meeting up with Noonie's daughter and daughter's friend for afternoon tea at the pump rooms. I may later post some pics of Bath, mainly of the Roman Baths.

But when we left CenterParcs on the Friday, we headed to Cardiff. Not only is that where Noonie's daughter is at Uni, but of course, it is the home of Doctor Who and Torchwood! And we couldn't be there and not go to the Doctor Who Experience! Actually, that was one of the main purposes of the trip. *g* (My apologies for the poor quality of some of the photos, I was using my tablet, which doesn't have the best camera and no flash :( ).

Pics of our Experience, and fully geeking out, under the cut )

Such a pity I no longer have my Doctor Who icons loaded. Fixed that!

It was a friend's birthday Saturday, so we -- as in several of her friends -- took her bowling and then went downtown to see PS I Love You. Now, I'm the first to admit that RomCom is not my thing (in fact hubby was disgusted with me for wanting to see it...despite the obvious reason), but damn, I liked it...and not only for the obvious reason.

The opening sequence was just brilliant, and Gerry (a Scot playing Gerry an Irishman (with a dubious accent)) was just Gerry. If you've seen this man in interviews, you know that he can be a real goof...and that definitely came out in this. It was great to see him in a part where he could be pretty much himself. Hilary Swank wasn't annoying. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was lovely, with a very nice rear. Not too sure about James Marsters (more looking forward to him in Torchwood. Harry Connick Jr. was better than I thought he would be, as I'm usually just 'meh' about him. And seeing Dean Winters brought a smile to my face as I immediately thought of [livejournal.com profile] phantomas and [livejournal.com profile] franzi1981.

It was a sweet/bittersweet film. Not as Romcom as I thought it would be, which is good, and yes, I had to reach for the tissues a couple of times. But I was there for purely shallow reasons...and let me just say that Gerry was FINE! Those biceps, his 'striptease', and most of all the best thing about seeing Gerry anytime on the big screen is those eyes.

Yeah, I liked it.

Oh, and one of my friends that I went with (who is also Glaswegian) is a big GB fan...so I got to be all fangirly! The other (the birthday friend) has begun to be converted!

We're still househunting, although hopefully we're coming near the end of that. We saw a lovely house yesterday (and HUGE!!), which would be perfect except that the back yard was completely dead except for the weeds....and we'd like at least something, even just grass. We'd be prepared to do-it-ourselves as long as the landlord compensated us in some fashion. So we shall see. It has been available for sometime and the property management company listing it, says that's the problem people have had with it. Going to see another house later today too...and there maybe another coming free (if the people don't come up with the deposit, but I'm not holding my breath on that one).

In other news, at least our BMW has arrived in Oakland, and we go to pick that up on Monday. So we'll have two vehicles as we're going to keep a hold of the one we're borrowing for a little while.

Other than that, life is quite boring with not a whole lot to do in between things and with stuff just hanging in limbo. Dish satellite sucks, so we won't be getting that. For a time we were getting BBC America, but now it's gone...just in time for Torchwood's premiere! So that's makes me not a happy camper. :P

So, I'm not the greatest icon maker in the world, but after watching Torchwood Declassified for "End of Days", I was just inspired...thanks mostly to John Barrowman. *g*

Like I mentioned the other day, I was on the verge of getting a new pup. Well, perhaps to celebrate my new unemployed status, he's been approved to TM and RotM. He incorporates my new love for Torchwood and my old love for bad guys.

He is [livejournal.com profile] stitch_intime aka Bilis Manger who features in episodes 1x12 (Captain Jack Harkness) and 1x13 (End of Days). He may be a god or demon of sorts...at least that's the path I'm taking with him for now at least.

He's going to be fun, I hope think.

Edit: Oh, and as I was doing some searches on Bilis, I discovered that his actor (Murray Melvin) played Monsieur Reyer in Phantom of the Opera...so now I'm getting plot bunnies of Bilis and Erik creating trouble together! :D

Okay, so still making my way through Torchwood (and I cannot wait for the last two eps!!), and I'm enjoying Combat (ep 111), and it suddenly hits me...

It's "Fight Club" What glee!

Dissaffecting young men finding no meaning in society getting together and punching the crap out of each other. Except, being Torchwood, this has a bit of a kick to it. Fighting each other is just the warm-up. The real match-up is a weevil! The one who lasts longest with the alien wins.

I couldn't help thinking that Tyler would so pwn that weevil.

...with the old username after four years on LJ and using it elsewhere for several years before that, so I changed it. No need to do anything, just an FYI

Also, I got a new fandom as the icon indicates! *looks at the many others, most lying neglected and forgotten* But this one is nice, new and shiny.
