Just home from Christmas in the UK...

...and I see everyone's doing this...

Name a fandom you know I know and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
6. The character I would shag anytime
7. The character I'd want to be like
8. The character I'd slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise

Still not back back until next week, so it might take me a bit of time to get to answer this, but I will.

*cling* Come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. *G*

And going with the obvious here - Highlander.

[identity profile] simplyjaye.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs tight* Almost there!!

1. The first character I first fell in love with
The Kurgan, the deliciously evil immortal from the first film.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Amanda. I always liked her, but now I absolutely adore her...don't know why. *snickers and glances at Terry!pup*
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Duncan MacLeod. Yuck! It's fun being in a fandom where you don't like the main character. *g*
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Kronos. Well, not everyone hates him, but enough do.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
Methos. Loved him when he first appeared on the show, handsome, snarky...great, but then with the Horsemen episodes, I went right off of him.
6. The character I would shag anytime
I'd say Kronos, but too scary. So..despite what I just said, Methos. Him or Fitz. Or an immie called Consone...yum.
7. The character I'd want to be like
Uhm. Joe Dawson (although I'd still want my legs)...it'd be fascinating to be able to study these immortals.
8. The character I'd slap
Duncan...so many times. Or Cassandra.
9. A pairing that I love
Kronos/Caspian, though there is nowhere near enough of it.
10. A pairing that I despise
MacLeod/anyone.

Too scary? Heh. Such a thing exists? ;-)

[identity profile] simplyjaye.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
When it comes to my muses, no...but when it comes to me, yeah! *lol*

Although, I realized after, I'd shag Korda...same fandom, same actor, still evil, but less psychopathic. *g*

[identity profile] itsmybrain2.livejournal.com 2006-01-17 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*lol* Now you see the light! ;)

[identity profile] simplyjaye.livejournal.com 2006-01-17 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Always have done, hon. It's just the Kronosmuse won't let me admit it.

Fandom Qs & catchup

[identity profile] shadowspin.livejournal.com 2005-12-30 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hey!! *hugs*

Just walked in, a day late, but worth the detour (youngest spent the start of his birthday in the water with my other 'kids', Buck, Zip and Calamity, three dolphins and a new bubba one Bella, this morning!)

And am choosing PotO! *g* Am trying to catch up tonight, having just been out with the kids and ex for said youngest's birthday and am pretty wrung out from the more than 2,500kms in last 8 days so not sure how much I'll get done. Not even sure what there is to be done!

Glad you're home safe and catch you soon.

Awwwww!! Swimming with dolphins...absolutely lovely! What a great birthday treat! Yeah, I'll be playing catch up next week. So much stuff.

Okay...mixing book and movie as always *g*

1. The first character I first fell in love withErik. How could one not (and this was the book version)
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Carlotta. After seeing Minnie Driver play her, I think she's fantastic, and I never liked MD much before either. *g*
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Will have to go for Christine. Not from any 'phan' girl envy, but the book version was so sappy. Movie!Christine was better, but still an idiot.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
This is tough because I don't know of anyone who is universally hated in the fandom. I did find myself liking movie!Raoul a lot more than I thought I would...again a real drip in the book.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
Uhm...none of the really.
6. The character I would shag anytime
*hides Erik!pup's eyes* Not Erik. I would pick the daroga (the Persian). He wasn't in the movie, but I picture a mix between Oded Fehr and Omar Shariff for him, so *thunk*
7. The character I'd want to be like
Christine and be able to sing wonderfully like her. And have just a fraction of Erik's talents.
8. The character I'd slap
Christine, the idiot child needs a good bitchslapping.
9. A pairing that I love
Erik/daroga and would love to read some good (i.e. not sappy) slash between these two.
10. A pairing that I despise
Christine/Raoul

Yes, and it was great to catch up with the crew, what's left of them. Lots of things have happened in the last few years, since I was last there, and it's all given me the motivation to actually consider getting my writing cap on for real - and put together a history of the place before it's all lost. 35 years of caring for and raising injured marine mammals, penguins, turtles etc. First ever to successfully raise a baby dolphin from the wild on a bottle! Amazing group of people - and now all getting older etc. Sadly commercialism is creeping in, necessary, but will finally kill the original spirit. *sighs*

ANYway... will be spending more time heading down to Coffs, (3-4hrs south) to do the information gathering, which I lined up, and will then spend time during the week writing it up. Have a few years to get it done before their planned '40th Birthday' in 2010 - which it seems is going to be a big bash, according to their new CEO. Will see...

And as you know ITA re Christine! *g* Stupid girl. In so many ways. Though I have to now go and try and find the book to see what you're meaning with The Daroga! *g* Especially if he's turned your head from the Phantom.

First off...Icon love!!! *guh*

That would be great to write about such a place. They do such great work all these animal sanctuary and it's so hard work with very little in the way of funds. Yes, the commercialisation is sad, but as you say a necessary evil to keep these places going these days. Good luck with it!

Hehehe...he hasn't exactly turned my head from Erik (but I definitely wouldn't want to shag book!Erik as much as I adore him...movie!Erik moreso of course but he's still a psycho), but he's definitely my second favourite character in the novel. It's such a shame there was no place for him in the musical.

It just occurred to me I need a Michael Praed icon. I'm torn between Sharpe, and Robin of Sherwood. Honestly, I don't know either fandom well enough to say which characters are well liked, and which aren't. Inspite of the the icon I'm using, Robin of Sherwood?

[identity profile] simplyjaye.livejournal.com 2006-01-01 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe...either one's good for me! *g*

1. The first character I first fell in love with
Nasir
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Robin of Loxley (Michael Praed), now that Praed is much less a pretty boy IRL.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Well, for a while it was Loxley, but now I'd have to go for Robert of Huntingdon (Jason Connery). Not that he's universally loved, especially by the Praed lovers.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Tough one, I'd probably have to pick the Sheriff, because he is just so wicked. But then there's also Sarak (VP's character) and Philip Mark (Lewis Collins).
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
I don't think there is one. All the regular characters, at least, are wonderful in their own ways.
6. The character I would shag anytime
Nasir! No question. With Will Scarlet as a fairly distant second.
7. The character I'd want to be like
Another toughie. Nas or Little John, except I do not do living rough at all. The Sheriff and Gisburne are just too much liabilities to want to be like them, although they get the comforts. *g*
8. The character I'd slap
Loxley/Huntingdon for being such idealist goodie-goodies.
9. A pairing that I love
Loxley/Marian...just meant to be. Sheriff/Gisburne, that's practically canon...and my rare fave, Nasir/Will.
10. A pairing that I despise
Sheriff/any of the Merries would be wrong...just wrong.

Hmmm...I don't have a Robin of Sherwood icon, so you get my Little Britain one. *g*

Hehe...either one's good for me! *g*

*Giggles.* Does that mean I can ask for Sharpe too? *Bats eyelashes.*

now I'd have to go for Robert of Huntingdon (Jason Connery). Not that he's universally loved, especially by the Praed lovers.

I didn't want to like him because I was a Praed lover, but some how I liked him anyway.

[identity profile] simplyjaye.livejournal.com 2006-01-02 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of Praed fans felt that he was just out to replace Michael, when it was Michael's idea to quit the series in the first place. I kind of felt sorry for Jason, but he did a good job, he just wasn't the same. I also feel sorry for him for who his dad is, but that's a whole 'nother story. *g*

Okay, it's been a while since I've immersed myself in Sharpe, but here goes...
1. The first character I first fell in love with
That'd be Richard Sharpe, of course!
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Teresa Moreno
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Not sure that there is one.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Obadiah Hakeswill. He is just such a brilliant, repulsive, evil toad. Runners up are Ducos and Simmerson. Well, you know how I like the bad guys.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
Don't really think there's any again.
6. The character I would shag anytime
Sharpe. Peter D'Alembord, who was sadly missing from the movies, but was a gorgeous comrade of Sharpe's in many of the novels, even when he lost a leg.
7. The character I'd want to be like
Harper probably. Loyal sidekick, that's me! *g*
8. The character I'd slap
Jane Sharpe. Actually I'd like to do a lot more to her than just slap her.
9. A pairing that I love
Sharpe/Teresa, Sharpe/Harper, and because I'm evil, Sharpe/Ducos.
10. A pairing that I despise
Sharpe/Jane

I don't know if I'd heard it was Michael's idea, or if I just didn't feel like it was a hostile take over. *Ponders.*

...he did a good job, he just wasn't the same.

Thanks, (((((Kimmie))))). When I looked at the series entry at IMDb I found in the trivia, "The series was not meant to end with "'Time of the Wolf' episodes. Another season, in which Marian was supposed to leave the monastery and finally marry Robin, was planned. However, due to short funds and some crew conflicts, the new episodes never went into production." It also mentioned in that section Paul McGann was considered as a replacement for Michael before they went with Jason.

Obadiah Hakeswill. He is just such a brilliant, repulsive, evil toad. Runners up are Ducos and Simmerson.

Heh, I hate Hakeswill and Simmerson, but I do kind of like Ducos.
