Friday Five

1. What was your first Halloween costume? Never had one. Grew up in UK, not an issue.

2. What was your best costume and why? See above.

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat? Nope.

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.) Not really, usually help the kids carve their pumpkins the day before. Otherwise, try and get it over with as quickly as possible and place a ban on the kids from mentioning Halloween until at least Oct. 1.

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend! Top of my head...My history teacher at middle school told me this...she was also the Rector's wife. They lived in this old house in my hometown. She woke up one night and saw a lady walking on her knees across the bedroom, which she thought was odd. A while later they had some renovations done...and they pulled up the floor to find the original floor 18 inches lower. Also, I used to live next to a WWII air base in UK, and during the war, a B-17 crew had to bail on takeoff. One man hit the local church steeple...and apparently on dark and stormy nights you can see the outline of his body. Okay, not scary, but cool!

1) What is the movie that scared you the most? (Notice I didn’t say the scariest movie.) Does it scare you still? The original Carrie, when I was about 15. My friend and I were watching it on TV in her room (converted attic), and when the hand popped out of the grave at the end, scared the life out of us. Then her mum (who'd been watching it downstairs) burst through the door and finished us off. No, it doesn't scare me anymore

2) What is the tv show or episode that scared you the most? Does it scare you still? Doctor Who is the classic scary show as a kid...most kids can remember hiding behind the couch when it was on. It's more realistic horror that scares/d me...I remember a TV movie about Rabies infecting Britain years ago, that scared the pants off me, can't remember what it was called.

3) Do you watch horror movies/tv shows or avoid them? Why? I mainly avoid horror shows/movies...psychological thrillers tend to scare me more than classic horror stuff. The slasher, blood gore stuff doesn't appeal much.

4) What is the best “Very Special Halloween” episode of all time? Why? I don't know...one of the Simpsons?

5) You have an unlimited budget and the best costumers and makeup people from Hollywood to help you, who or what do you dress as for Halloween? I'm trying to think of something really special here, but coming up with nothing much. I'm not a big Halloween celebrater...just tolerate it for my kids. But to answer...seeing as money/talent no object....a realistic medieval knight.
