Kingdom of Heaven
Aug. 1st, 2005 04:58 pmWe went to see Kingdom of Heaven last night. Not a bad film. Okay, so I can barely tolerate OB, but as I'm a complete Crusades whore, I could put up with him even for that. I wasn't expecting great things OB (again!) and Hollywood do not make an historically accurate epic. But still Liam Neeson, Marton Csokas (looking very much like DeKere in Timeline), Brendan Gleeson, and David Thewlis...definite good points, though certainly not enough of any of them.
They did get some things right though (or nearly right)...more than I thought they would. Which was a pleasant surprise. Even that the King had leprosy.
And that brings me to the main point. My thought, when he died and his sister took off his mask was....It's Erik!! And why, oh why, couldn't they have done make up like that in POTO? Hideous face...no nose! If they could do it for KoH, they could have done it in POTO, surely.
OTOH....Okay, the Templars were a greedy bunch ofcutthroats noble warrior monks, however, for once I would like to see them NOT cast as the big bad.
