MEME: Friday Five
Jul. 4th, 2003 08:53 am1. What were your favorite childhood stories?
The ones I remember most of all are Black Beauty and Elyne Mitchell's Silver Brumby series.
2. What books from your childhood would you like to share with [your] children?
The books I read as a child probably wouldn't appeal to my sons as they were usually about horses or naughty schoolgirls *g*. But as they're both enthusiastic Harry Potter fans, I don't mind.
3. Have you re-read any of those childhood stories and been surprised by anything?
I've often reread Black Beauty and as an adult I can appreciate the message Anna Sewell was intending to convey about cruelty to animals.
4. How old were you when you first learned to read?
I don't know...probably about 5.
5. Do you remember the first 'grown-up' book you read? How old were you?
The first I remember reading was probably Stephen King's Carrie, and I was probably about 11 or 12. Although I may have read other grown-up books before, and just don't remember what.
