Another quick update!

Arrived safe and sound in Edinburgh yesterday. Had a great view of the Forth Bridge as the plane came into land, which was cool as, sadly, Edinburgh is pretty much all I'll get to do of Scotland on this visit...schedule is way too packed for anything else.

Seeing as by the time we got done with the airport and picked up the rental car, it was pushing mid afternoon, so we are doing the city centre today. Instead we found a cinema and watched X-Men: First Class. Brilliant! Okay, I knew Michael Fassbender would be great as Erik Lensherr/Magneto but he was even better than that! That man can do intensity, or what. Sure, there were some corny/stretching the suspension of disbelief moments (a hovering SR-71, wtf?), but nowhere near enough to spoil the rest. And there is a great cameo appearance in there as well!

He probably broke my heart a half dozen times in the course of the film. I'm kind of scared of trying Hex now. He was so beautiful though...

I know, he was great! Don't be, although he does bring true meaning to sympathy for the devil in HEX.

Oh, and Charles' house in the film is the same house where they filmed HEX.

Also, you may like Centurion...with Fassy and also Dominic West, who I like, about the lost Roman Ninth Legion (and much, much better than that crappy The Eagle)

Thanks!

Heh, you know me, some devils I really enjoy sympathizing with.

Oh, and Charles' house in the film is the same house where they filmed HEX.

Cool!

Also, you may like Centurion...

Thanks again! I've been wondering how many of the movies he did prior to Jane Eyre and First Class -- a) had enough of him in them to be worth watching just for him, and b) how many, if any, of those had a story I might like. The lost Roman Ninth Legion is a story I'm curious about, but after the things I heard about The Eagle I never checked out either film. I'll remember Centurion is the one to try.

Yes, which is a reason I think you will love HEX

I love anything to do with Roman Britain (well aside from The Eagle *g*) and Centurion does a pretty good job. I do have a couple of minor accuracy gripes, but not enough to spoil. Michael looks wonderful (and it also has Mickey from DW/TW). As for other films, of course there is 300 which is what introduced me to him. I recently saw Fish Tank which is one of those quietly brilliant piece of independant British film and Hunger which is not an easy film to watch because of the subject matter (and not my favourite because of my own feelings on the subject), but it is very well done and deserved all the acclaim it received.

Cool bonus.

As for other films, of course there is 300 which is what introduced me to him.

I've watched bits and pieces of that on basic cable, but haven't really sat down and watched it from beginning to end. I'll have to try harder.

I haven't heard of either of those.

He was wonderful in HEX and pretty much the reason I watched it.

Heh, I've been gun shy about giving HEX and Michael's part in it a try because of how Charmed and Julian McMahon's part in it left me feeling badly burned. Now it seems like I've got to see how different the two are.
