30 Days of Meme -- Day 04
Day 04. Your favorite show ever
Tough question. One show that will always be dear in my heart is Blakes 7; it was, really, my first fandom...even before I knew what fandom was. I wrote fanfic for it and with my friend
gmnoonie fangirled discussed every episode. Yes, it had hokey special effects, wobbly sets, often dubious acting, and a budget of 5.49 GBP, but the storylines and writing were wonderful. And Avon was my first fannish crush.
However, when it comes down to it, my favourite show ever, has to be Highlander: The Series. I loved the original movie (and the less said about the subsequent ones the better), but it was with the series that I really became hooked into it and the fandom, despite the fact that I never had any great liking for Duncan MacLeod. The entire mythology of the show, as well as the history elements, have long inspired me, and now...more than, what?, twelve years since it ended, it is still my primary fandom. I RP OCs that have grown and grown well beyond what I could have hoped from them. It's just stuck with me, and I still love it.

And well, I'm not called the Horsemen Whore by a few folks for nothing. Some people don't see Duncan as very black and white, but I do. Whereas, Methos is all about the shades of gray. The other three horsemen, well, they're just deliciously dastardly evil bastards. Not that I'm a fangirl or anything. ;)

Back when HL fandom was active, I went by the nick, K'Immielvr for my love of all the evil Immies. The Horsemen were the ultimate in evil bastards...a group of us even had our own forum, the BABEs (Bronze Age Bunch Entourage). Ahhh...good times.
Iz sad I can't use my HL icons. :(

Btw...love that Kronos icon!

Thanks! As I've become more adept at working with PS, I've been making more and more icons and entering challenges. That Kronos one is due to my love of the face paint, plus finding a bunch of new kick-ass fonts. :D

*Whistles softly.* There's a blast from the past. I checked on when "Methos" originally aired to be sure of when the 15th anniversary of my being in love with Peter Wingfield and Methos was this year. It was March 11th. I haven't thought to check on "Band of Brothers", and I was one of Grayson's Guardian Angels once upon a time. *Goes and checks.* It was the 17th anniversary for James Horan, Grayson and me February 13th. Talk about making me feel old.

*Nods.* The website died with GeoCities, but the company that hosts the actual forum hadn't shut it down the last time I looked. I haven't got the link on this machine to check on it. Still, I haven't forgotten those times. ;)

It's hard for me to say what my first fandom was because of my having grown up not only with some sense of what fandom was, but with my parents being into a number of fandoms. It likely was a cartoon, a comic book, or Doctor Who. I joined the Voltron Fan Club when I was 9, saw the Doctor Who U.S. Tour when I was 11 and the first convention I went to was a comic book one when I was 11.
It's just stuck with me, and I still love it.
I was just as excited seeing Peter Wingfield at Torchsong in '09 as I was seeing him at Legacy in '00. The difference was it was my third time, and I was coherent enough to finally ask him for the hug I'd been wanting from him all those years.

Hehehe....ah, Legacy...fond memories. And I remember that...I'm so glad you finally got a hug from him!!

I can never remember when people count the internet as having started. It might have been pre-internet for me, but it wouldn't have been pre-PC. If I was 9 or 11 when I got into a fandom for myself instead of simply being in one of my parents, we already had a PC.
I'm so glad you finally got a hug from him!!
Thanks! When he gave it to me he told me, "You take that home to Maine with you." I'd given him the Maine moose I'd brought for John Barrowman, since he was there and John wasn't. I brought one for John and one for Gareth. You can see the moose in Gareth's pocket in this icon. *Points up.* I got hugs from Peter and Gareth at the "cocktails with the guests" Friday night. I remember telling Fleta after that I could die happy right there. I didn't even need to see the rest of the con. I still haven't gotten to meet John, but I have gotten hugs from James at Legacy, and Peter and Gareth at Torchsong. :D
