30 Days of Meme -- Day 03

Day 03. Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

There are two, even if I've only seen three episodes of one of them. Spartacus: Blood and Sand was great and I was really getting hooked into it before I left the US. Given it's content, I doubt they'll show it on AFN here (but I can hope)...if not, I'm definitely getting hold of the DVDs when it comes out.

The other one took me a little by surprise as it's not my usual watching fare. White Collar was absolutely brilliant, and I quickly found myself loving all the regular characters, and not just Neal. It has such smooth charm and great writing, giving great development between them all...plus nice little surprises which turn tropes on their heads. And I love that. Plus, of course, Neal is very easy on the eyes...which never, ever hurts. *g* And I just saw that AFN are going to be showing it...so I get to see Season 1 again!

OMG I loved Spartacus!!!!!!! I can't wait for the prequel that's going to air between season 1 and 2!

I was so sad I only got to see, I think, three episodes before I left. I can't wait till I can get the DVDs...and to know there's more coming as well!

I haven't seen Spartacus. We don't have Starz. My mom loves White Collar. I kind of like it, but I haven't really clicked with any of the characters and I need to really click with a character to really get into a show. My favorite series on USA is Burn Notice. Hell, with Torchwood gone and Doctor Who underwhelming Burn Notice is my favorite show currently being produced anywhere.

I didn't get Starz either, but I managed to watch from their website. As for White Collar, I wasn't expecting to like that as much as I did...but for me, something about the characters clicked and engaged me. And like you, I need to really click with one or more characters to really like a show...I'm very much character driven. If they don't, even if I like the premise, I'll lose interest.

Ah. I don't watch much on the web.

I kind of like Peter on the show, but it's only a vague attachment not a real click. My mom loves Neal, Peter and Elizabeth. On Burn Notice I've gotten so I love Mike, Fi, Sam and Mike's mom. Never-mind I can't retain Mike's mom's actual given name. *Checks.* It's Madeline, for the record.

I should ammend that a little. It's not purely character driven, but the way the characters interact with each other. I love the dynamics between Neal, Peter and Elizabeth (and Mozzie). Burn Notice hasn't grabbed me as much...I like it, but it just doesn't pull me in like others.

Aaah. For me it all starts with one character. With Highlander: The Series originally it was Duncan, and that really didn't change until Methos came along. With Torchwood it was Captain Jack Harkness, and Ianto Jones only passes him in CoE which I prefer to ignore. With Burn Notice it was Mike first then the others. Part of my problem with White Collar is that not only is there no one character that really grabs me, but the dynamics between the one character I kind of like and the others doesn't make me engaged with any of the other characters either.
