"Kushiel's Dart" arrived today! A lot quicker than I thought it would. (Shipping times to APOs are uncertain at best.) Needless to say, I got stuck right into it...and pushed poor old Sharpie out of the way for now. I'll get back to him.

In other news, I've about had it with the customer service -- or non-customer service -- of Aafes, the monopolistic company that is responsible for selling most everything on US military bases worldwide from gasoline to grass seed. People think Bill Gates and Microsoft are bad, but in comparison they are fair-minded and generous.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I ordered a new boxspring and mattress for my queen size bed. Orders go in on a Friday and delivery should be the next Wednesday. Well it so happened that weekend was Easter, so it would take an extra week. As the order should have arrived this Wednesday, and I hear nothing from the store...I go in to check on Thursday to see if it came in. The sales associate tells me, the main warehouse was out of stock (they were in stock when I ordered it) and MAYBE it would be in next week. I inform her of my displeasure, not that it does a whole lot and leave. Well, I'm back up near that particular store today, doing my grocery shopping...and when I return home, there's a message on my answering machine telling that my mattress and boxspring are in. HUH? Weren't they out of stock yesterday? Don't they only get a delivery on Wednesdays? Which, to me, means that the had it all the time and that they hadn't bothered checking the bill of lading when the truck came in. Now I have to go back up there, pay for my goods and then make delivery arrangements to my house (another $55), which'll be next week at the earliest as they only deliver on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Something similar happened a couple of months back when I bought a chest freezer...for weeks it was out of stock...and then lo and behold one suddenly turned up in their warehouse. There is something to be said for salespeople on commission...they may be pushy, but at least they are willing to make a sale. The folks at Aafes make minimum wage and have no interest whether they help the company make a nickel.

Meanwhile my my SO's backs are still killing us each morning because of the sad state of the mattress we have.

Bad backs….

are not conducive to anything. I feel your pain. Hey, you don't think that your mattress and bedspring were the ones that caused them to be 'out of stock' do ya? *lol*

I agree with you, they suck and they probably had your stuff in the warehouse and just did not take the time to check until you came in. That sales person probably did check after you were gone and had a good chuckle.

I hope you get it soon, I know how bad it can be sleeping on something lumpy. *eyes glint*

Hey, add me to your friends lis please.
